(Reissue of PAR-18-486) The purpose of the NINDS Faculty Development Award to Promote Diversity in Neuroscience Research (K01) is to diversify the pool of independent neuroscience research investigators by providing junior faculty with research cost support, protected research time and career stage appropriate professional development mentorship in neuroscience research. Individuals from backgrounds underrepresented in biomedical research are eligible for support under this award if they have doctoral research degrees (Ph.D. or equivalent) and are in the first 3 years of a faculty tenure track or equivalent position at the time of application. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is designed specifically for applicants proposing to serve as the lead investigator of an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study, or a separate ancillary study to an existing trial, as part of their research and career development. NINDS will only accept applications to this FOA that propose human mechanistic trials/studies that meet NIH's definition of a clinical trial and that fall within the NINDS research priorities. Applicants are strongly advised to consult with NINDS program staff prior to submitting an application with human subjects to determine the appropriate funding opportunity.

The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity Announcement (NOFO) is to solicit applications for the Coordinating Center (CC) of the ML/AI Tools to Advance Genomic Translational Research (MAGen) Consortium. In collaboration with the MAGen Sites funded by the companion NOFO (RFA-HG-24-004) the CC will explore the feasibility of developing Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools that can enhance the accuracy and precision of predicting how individuals with pathogenic genetic variants manifest disease. The United States Department of the Interior (Department), Bureau of Reclamations (Reclamation) Desalination and Water Purification Research Program (DWPR) works with Reclamation researchers and partners to develop innovative, cost-effective, and technologically efficient ways to desalinate and treat water. DWPR funding plays a critical role in iterating an idea from the lab to a real-world demonstration, yielding products that serve the water treatment community and attract commercialization interest. Reclamation is interested in research where the benefits are widespread but where private-sector entities are not able to make the full investment and assume all the risks. Reclamation is also interested in research that has a national significancewhere the issues are of large-scale concern and the benefits accrue to a large sector of the public. The goal of the DWPR program is to address the need to reduce the costs, energy requirements, and environmental impacts of treating impaired and unusable water. The program also aligns with Executive Order 14008, Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad, by investing in development and application of advanced water treatment technologies that expand access to otherwise unusable water resources, thereby increasing water supply flexibility under the risks of long-term climate change and shorter-term drought. The National Cancer Institute intends to promote a new initiative by publishing a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications forresearch on the confluence of cancer stigma and HIV stigma in HIV-positive individuals diagnosed with cancer. This NOFO will utilize the R01 grant mechanism (clinical trial optional). Up to six (6) R01 awards are expected to be funded as part of the initiative. Research projects search project will advance the current understanding of the confluence of cancer stigma and HIV stigma among people with HIV (PWH) diagnosed with cancer; assess the impact of these two converging stigmas on cancer outcomes among PWH with cancer; leverage stigma reduction interventions at multiple levels to intervene on modifiable mechanisms of stigma that contribute to negative cancer outcomes among PWH with cancer; and promote research in diverse domestic and international contexts, focusing on regions in which the HIV-cancer burden is elevated. The NOFO is expected to be published in late Summer 2024 with an expected application due date in late Fall 2024. Details of a pre-application webinar will be announced after the publication of the NOFO.
