The Embassy of the United States of America in New Delhi announces an open competition to implement a project to increase Indian engagement as a regional leader with like-minded partners across the Indo-Pacific. This will be accomplished via a three -day residency in India for 15 established opinion leaders (EOLs) from the think tank space in the United States, Japan, Australia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia along with 15 counterparts from India. Please follow all instructions below.By March 2025, 15 EOL think tankers from participating countries will demonstrate a recognized attitude shift and perspective/behavior change toward the United States, make data-informed decisions as evidenced by writing at least 15 joint research papers/articles on regional cooperation and best practices in the Indo-Pacific under varied Indo-Pacific Strategy Pillars. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) requests applications to explore human pancreatic tissues and the immune compartment for the discovery of specific signaling or processing pathways that may contribute to the asymptomatic phase of T1D, the discovery of early biomarkers of T1D pathogenesis, the development of diagnostic tools for the detection and staging of early T1D in at-risk or recently-diagnosed individuals, and/or the identification and biological validation of therapeutic targets for the development of preventative or early treatment strategies. Successful applicants will join the Consortium on Beta Cell Death and Survival (CBDS), whose mission is to better define and detect the mechanisms of beta cell stress and destruction central to the development of T1D in humans, with the long-term goal of protecting the residual beta cell mass in T1D patients as early as possible in the disease process, and of preventing the progression to autoimmunity. The CBDS is part of a collaborative research framework, the Human Islet Research Network (HIRN, https://hirnetwork.org/), whose overall mission is to support innovative and collaborative translational research to understand how human beta cells are lost in T1D, and to find innovative strategies to protect and replace functional beta cell mass in humans. This NOFO will only support studies with a primary focus on increasing our understanding of human disease biology (as opposed to rodent or other animal models). This NOFO will not accept applications proposing a clinical trial.

Notice of Funding Opportunity Description Background The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) protects the public health by ensuring that medical products intended to be marketed in the United States are safe and effective for their intended use. FDA stakeholders are exploring innovative ways to produce scientific evidence in support of regulatory submissions, including the development of new data sources, study designs, methodologies, and technologies. FDA encourages and facilitates the use of such innovative approaches while ensuring that the scientific evidence supporting marketing approvals meet our high evidentiary standards. The Prescription Drug User Fee Act VII (PDUFA VII) commitment letter represents the product of discussions between the FDA, regulated industry, and public stakeholders, as mandated by Congress. The performance and procedural goals and other commitments specified in the PDUFA VII commitment letter apply to aspects of the human drug review program that are important for facilitating timely access to safe, effective, and innovative new medicines for patients. The commitment letter includes goals relating to the use of digital health technologies (DHTs) to support drug development and review. A DHT is a system that uses computing platforms, connectivity, software, and/or sensors, for health care and related uses. DHTs for remote data acquisition in clinical investigations can include hardware and/or software to perform one or more functions. DHTs may rely on or work with other technologies that support their operation, such as general-purpose computing platforms (e.g., smartphones) and communication networks. Among other activities relating to the use of DHTs, FDA has established a Framework for the Use of DHTs in Drug and Biological Product Development to guide the use of DHT-derived data in regulatory decision-making for drugs (hereinafter Framework ). The Framework highlights FDA’s DHT efforts including workshops and demonstration projects; engagement with stakeholders; establishment of internal processes to support the evaluation of DHTs for use in drug development; promotion of shared learning and consistency regarding DHT-based policy, procedure, and analytic tool development; and publication of guidance documents. In addition, FDA’s webpage DHTs for Drug Development (available at: https://www.fda.gov/science-research/science-and-research-special-topics/digital-health-technologies-dhts-drug-development) provides an overview of the ongoing DHT efforts, including demonstration projects. A variety of project types are welcomed under this NOFO, applicable to drugs and biologics (not devices). FDA is particularly interested in projects that evaluate the use of DHTs in drug development. Project Objectives The overarching goal of this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is to explore the role of DHTs (e.g., actigraphy, photography, environmental sensors) in the evaluation of new drugs. These projects may involve engagement with researchers from academia, the biopharmaceutical industry, patient groups, and other stakeholders. The objectives of these projects are to advance DHTs for clinical drug development, expand the ability to capture early manifestations of chronic diseases, determine outcomes in populations with unmet medical needs and enhance convenience for trial participants by allowing for remote data acquisition in clinical investigations. ACL recognizes senior centers as valued partners in the Aging Network that support community living by keeping older adults active, informed, and healthy. In October 2023, the Irish parliament passed new investment screening legislation and expects to implement the legislation in 2024. U.S. Embassy Dublin announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to implement an exchange program for Irish policymakers, legal professionals, and academics. The program should facilitate an exchange of best practices between the United States and Ireland, focused on sharing U.S. expertise and lessons learned - including federal and state government, legal, and academic perspectives - on foreign direct investment (FDI) in the United States. This exchange program should facilitate travel for up to five Irish participants and up to five American participants between the United States and Ireland, as well as cover the costs of associated events. Funding should also be made available for Irish participants to join relevant trainings on investment screening in third countries. Award subject to the availability of funds. A successful program may include meetings with: 1. officials at Treasury, State, Commerce, Energy, and other agencies involved in the CFIU.S. process to learn how the U.S. reviews investment, including what criteria are taken into account and how decisions are made 2. congressional staff to learn more about how CFIU.S. legislation was passed and understand current issues around investment screening 3. private sector contacts whose companies have undergone the CFIU.S. process 4. law firms and consultancies that represent clients in CFIU.S. reviews Objectives for the project: 1. This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding under the Delta Region Maternal Care Coordination Program (Delta MCC). The purpose of this program is to improve and increase access to care for pregnant women and new mothers during and after pregnancy. To support this purpose, the objectives for the Delta MCC are to: 1. Use care coordination strategies to enhance and expand access to perinatal services in the Delta Region through a strong, diverse network of entities that represent the spectrum of care during and after pregnancy; 2. Utilize evidence-based, promising practices and/or value-based care model(s) in the planning and delivery of perinatal services; 3. Identify barriers to providing maternal health care in the region and strategies for addressing such barriers; and 4. Develop and implement deliberate and sustainable strategies of care coordination into policies, procedures, staffing, services, and communication systems (including but not limited to billing for appropriate services and partnering private and public payers). Applicants are encouraged to consider innovative strategies to meet the needs of and support pregnant women and new mothers. Some examples of activities that can be provided include: Provide outreach and education to pregnant women and new mothers on healthy nutrition to reduce risk of hypertension Provide screening and referral of mental health issues such as depression and anxiety including HRSAs Maternal Mental Health Hotline (1-833-TLC-MAMA) Refer pregnant women and new mothers to online or local support groups Recruitment of doula and midwifery services, community health workers, and/or maternal fetal specialist services Support patient care through telehealth Support travel costs, as necessary, of maternal health specialist to travel to pregnant woman Provide education and social support for pregnant women through the development of centering pregnancy (group prenatal care) visits; Provide resources and education to support in-home hypertension management and blood pressure self-monitoring and reporting; Support mobile prenatal and postpartum care visits for pregnant women and new mothers; Utilize development dyad models (mother and infant) to support combined postpartum and infant checkup visits; Support childcare for pregnant women and new mothers during prenatal and postpartum care visits; Applicants are encouraged to consider innovative strategies. Applicants are encouraged to propose ways to achieve these goals through the establishment or continuation of collaborative networks/consortiums of providers and services who support pregnant women and new mothers through pregnancy and post-partum. The networks will focus on reducing risk factors for pregnant women during and after pregnancy through screening and referral to needed services and interventions. HRSA recommends your members consist of a broad array of organizations from both traditional and non-traditional health care entities. Network members may include cross-sector entities such as health care providers, key services for supporting infant and child health, quality program providers, and insurers. This program funding should be used to complement the work of other organizations and should not duplicate or supplant activities that are funded through other federal mechanisms. The Delta MCC is a four-year program with year one (September 30, 2024 September 29, 2025) a planning year and years two, three, and four (September 30, 2025 September 29, 2028) focused on program implementation.
