The U.S. Department of States Consulate General of the United States in Hyderabad announces an open competition to implement a program, Countering Disinformation Training for Vernacular Language Journalists, in four consular regions and the embassy region. Based on funding availability, this project will provide 20 to 25 journalists in five regional languages of Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, and Hindi from media outlets and digital platforms in Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and New Delhi with 18-month-long, hands-on training in countering disinformation, consulting multiple sources, and utilizing fact checking resources. This project will build skills among local language journalists to verify news, views, photos, and videos prior to release. This project will also help build a network of responsible journalists in India who will advocate for fact checking, and recognize that the need to build audience trust outweighs being first to break the news.

The intent of the FY24 ERP LRA is to leverage ongoing or completed research studies for which PTE was not an original focus and to provide support to expand the research to develop such a focus and increase our understanding of PTE. The project may include basic, translational, and/or clinical research studies. The Special Self-Help Program Objectives: Programming supported with SSH resources should address the following program objective: The purpose of the Special Self-Help program is to fund grants for small development activities that generate public awareness of U.S. foreign assistance efforts but that fall outside the structure of other established U.S. assistance projects. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage research applications to develop and pilot test the effectiveness and implementation of family navigator models designed to promote early access, engagement and coordination of mental health treatment and services for children and adolescents who are experiencing early symptoms of mental health problems. For the purposes of this FOA, NIMH defines a family navigator model as a health care professional or paraprofessional whose role is to deploy a set of strategies designed to rapidly engage youth and families in needed treatment and services, work closely with the family and other involved treatment and service providers to optimize care and monitor the trajectory of mental health symptoms and outcomes over time. Applicants are encouraged to develop and pilot test the navigator models ability to promote early access, engagement and coordination of mental health treatment and services for children and adolescents as soon as symptoms are detected.
