Projects should emphasize the strength of the conceptual framework and the potential of the project to advance understanding of the bat immune system. Projects may propose the development of critical reagents for the project, though those development and validation activities may be transferred to the Research Resource Program after award. Research areas of high priority include, but are not limited to, the following: Characterization of the cellular constituents of the bat immune system Dissection of the molecules and pathways involved in the regulation of the bat innate and/or adaptive immune system Mechanistic studies of bat immunity, including intrinsic immunity and regulation of inflammation Studies on the quality, magnitude, and kinetics of bat immune responses during pathogenic infection and after pathogen clearance Role of metabolism or other intrinsic factors in bat immune regulation Structural studies of bat immune proteins

In accordance with the Federal Fire Prevention and Control Act of 1974, the Superintendent of the National Fire Academy (NFA) delivers training in cooperation with the State fire service training agencies. This cooperation includes the State Fire Training Systems Grant (SFTSG) program providing grants to pay for: the direct delivery of government-funded coursed in the states; the distribution and sharing of Student Manuals, Instructor Guides, and other course materials; and funding to the states to help supplement and tailor their training delivery needs using NFA courses and programs. The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) is the component of the U.S. Department of Justice responsible for advancing the practice of community policing by the nations state, local, territorial, and tribal law enforcement agencies through information and grant resources. The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office, https://cops.usdoj.gov) is pleased to announce that it is seeking applications for funding for the FY 24 Tribal Resources Grant Program Technical Assistance (TRGP-TA) Alaska Tribal Law Enforcement Technical Assistance Project. FY24 TRGP-TA funds will be used to support technical assistance efforts to assist Alaska Tribes with law enforcementspecific needs, including starting law enforcement agencies, developing policies and procedures, addressing jurisdictional challenges, and other needs unique to Alaska Tribes and tribal law enforcement. Program funds will also support the development of a current State of Tribal Law Enforcement in Alaska report with an assessment of tribal law enforcement services and needs, challenges, areas of greatest need, and any unique barriers. The assessment will help shape technical assistance offered under the program along with areas for the COPS Office to focus on in future efforts.

Applicants no longer need to limit personnel expenditures to one year and the overall grant to three. We recognize the strategic value in awarding a 4-5 year administrative grant that can be successively amended in cost and scope. This prevents overlapping periods of performance and simplifies reporting. If you have already been awarded an administrative grant in 2023, work with your NPS program officer to advance a cost increase amendment, not a new 2024 administrative grant award. Award amounts are still recommended to be greater than $200,000 and less than 7% of the states apportionment. Applications with proposed awards outside of this range should justify the request in the budget narrative according to the program goals of: 1) improving participation in ORLP and formula grant programs, 2) addressing deficient formula grant implementation areas, 3) improving monitoring of LWCF assisted parks and sub-recipients. Recommendations to applicants include: 1) work with your NPS program officer to review the application prior to submission, 2) pay special attention to Budget Object Classifications definitions within the SF424a instructions and use these BOCs in the budget narrative to make sure there is tight correspondence, 3) include a signed, written request for reimbursement of any equipment costs included in budget, and 4) allow time for revisions to the SF424a.

The COPS Hiring Program (CHP) provides funding to law enforcement agencies to hire and/or rehire additional career law enforcement officers in an effort to increase their community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts. Anticipated outcomes of CHP awards include engagement in planned community partnerships, implementation of projects to analyze and assess problems, implementation of changes to personnel and agency management in support of community policing, and increased capacity of agency to engage in community policing activities. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) supports applications to develop and implement investigator-initiated single site clinical trials including efficacy, comparative effectiveness, pragmatic and/or implementation research clinical trials. These trials may include ones that test different therapeutic, behavioral, and/or prevention strategies. Trials for which this FOA applies must be relevant to the research mission of the NHLBI and meet the NIH definition of a clinical trial (see NOT-OD-15-015). For additional information about the mission, strategic vision, and research priorities of the NHLBI, applicants are encouraged to consult the NHLBI website.This FOA will utilize a bi-phasic, milestone-driven mechanism of award. The objective of the application is to present the scientific rationale for the clinical trial and a comprehensive scientific and operational plan that describes it. The application should address project management, subject recruitment and retention, performance milestones, scientific conduct of the trial, and dissemination of results. The multiple PD/PI model is strongly encouraged but not required. Applicants are encouraged to include a PD/PI with expertise in biostatistics, clinical trial design, and coordination.
