The "Catalyze: Product Definition Device Prototype Testing and Design Modification, Diagnostic Disease Target Assay Development and Design Characterization, and Research Tool Testing and Validation" grant aims to provide early-stage funding for the development and testing of prototypes, diagnostic disease target assays, and research tools to improve the treatment of HLBS diseases and disorders, with the goal of advancing these projects to a stage where they can attract further development support.

Furthermore, this NOFO will support research projects that are designed to provide results that will be sufficient to inform the future trial without further studies. The planned Phase II, III, or IV trial must be primarily intended to test the efficacy, safety, clinical management, or implementation of intervention(s) in the prevention and/or treatment of heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders. In contrast to the study start up or preparation phase of NHLBI funding opportunities for clinical trials (as described at https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/grants-and-training/funding-opportunities-and-contacts/clinical-trials-optimization), the R34 mechanism is intended to provide new information that answers a scientific or operational question(s) which may be pragmatic in nature and, therefore, informs the final development of a Phase II-IV clinical trial. Regardless of the results of the R34, support of the proposed future clinical trial will require a new application.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications from qualified entities for an anticipated cooperative agreement to implement the USAID/Ethiopia Health Security activity. Eligibility for this award is not restricted. The purpose of the USAID/Ethiopia Health Security Activity (HSA) is to reduce the impact of infectious disease outbreaks on morbidity and mortality through building a resilient One Health (OH) surveillance, diagnostics and workforce development capacities. The HSA will achieve this through strengthening Ethiopias capacity to detect infectious disease outbreaks early, supporting the subnational laboratory systems to diagnose resistant and zoonotic pathogens and building a OH workforce to respond to any emerging or re-emerging infectious disease outbreaks. The HSA will build on the lessons drawn from the USAID Ethiopias five years of experience in the sector including but not limited to Infectious Disease Surveillance (IDDS), Core Group Partners Project (CGPP) and Africa One Health University Network (AFROHUN). The expected outcomes will be evidence-based and will objectively be measured by the progress made in the countrys capacities to prevent, detect, and respond to emerging infectious and zoonotic diseases through a One Health approach.

The primary goal of the Community Led Monitoring (CLM) program is to assist healthcare institutions and providers in identifying and addressing emerging or persistent issues, challenges, and barriers related to the delivery, uptake, and accessibility of HIV services at community and facility levels. By leveraging data-driven solutions and fostering community engagement, CLM aims to enhance the quality of care and support provided to individuals affected by HIV and sustain the response. Participants and Audiences: The PEPFAR Coordination Office is currently inviting proposals from registered local or national community-based organizations, civil society groups, networks of key populations (KP), networks and associations of people living with HIV (PLHIV), women-led civil society 1 organizations, youth-led civil society organizations, and other affected groups or community entities that work on health, HIV program, gather quantitative and qualitative data on HIV services and advocate for necessary policy and program changes. These organizations should have a clear mission and activities focused on HIV programming.

The purpose of this 3-year NOFO is to fund up to 6 applicants to increase awareness related to a single proposed chronic disease for public health practitioners, healthcare providers, patients, and the public. Recipients will focus on conducting data dissemination and educational activities to increase and expand awareness about that proposed chronic condition to support effective, evidenced-based clinical and population-level approaches. 2020, Congress recognized CDC’s work with stakeholders to expand public health education and awareness activities that help improve surveillance, diagnosis, and proper treatment for chronic diseases. Congress charged CDC with establishing a new competitive grant program to expand and advance work with stakeholders on education, outreach, and public awareness activities for a variety of chronic diseases for which there is a clear disparity in public and professional awareness and that are not currently funded through a direct FY21 CDC appropriations line. This approach would strengthen the science base for prevention, education, and public health awareness for a variety of chronic diseases that do not currently have dedicated resources that would lead to meaningful patient outcomes. This 3 year competitive grant will complement or fill gaps in CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion’s (NCCDPHP) current priorities by supporting recipients for the following activities: 1) Data dissemination activities that support awareness for public health professionals; 2) Develop data collection tools to fill surveillance gaps; 3) Educational activities supporting public awareness; and 4) Educational activities supporting health professional screening, referral, and/or management. Collecting and disseminating reliable information on the impacts of chronic diseases (including social, behavioral, environmental, and quality of life aspects) is necessary to shape effective evidence-based clinical and population-level approaches for public health impact and health equity.
