Federal Law Justice and Legal Services Grants

This grant provides funding to law enforcement agencies at various levels to help them achieve accreditation and strengthen their community policing practices.

The Healing and Response Teams Special Initiative (Assistance Listing # 16.029) was created in response to recommendations made by the Not Invisible Act Commission (NIAC). This special initiative will support the creation, training, and sustainability of Healing and Response Teams (HRT) using a Tribal-based model of care to respond to Missing or Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) cases related to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and sex trafficking. Within the first nine (9) months of the project, in coordination with OVW, the recipient will identify, make subawards to, and collaborate with three subrecipients acting as pilot sites.

With this solicitation, BJA seeks applications for training and technical assistance funding to strengthen and improve the representation of indigent defendants in criminal and indigent respondents in civil cause of action under jurisdiction of Indian tribes. The overall goal is to enhance the operations of tribal justice systems and improve access to those systems by tribal citizens and other individuals.

This funding opportunity provides financial support to nonprofit organizations and educational institutions to develop and implement crisis intervention programs aimed at reducing gun violence and improving public safety through evidence-based strategies.

Under the MUHR Program, BJA will provide funding to eligible entities to expand upon the reporting, transportation, processing, and identification of missing persons (MP) and unidentified human remains (UHR) cases in their jurisdictions, including migrants. This program increases public safety by providing resources to locate and identify MP and UHR in the United States.

This funding opportunity is designed to support the National Children’s Alliance in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of Children's Advocacy Centers across the United States through training, technical assistance, and accreditation.

With this solicitation, OJJDP seeks to support projects designated for funding in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 (Public Law 118-42) to improve the functioning of the criminal justice system, to prevent or combat juvenile delinquency, and to assist victims of crime (other than compensation).

This funding opportunity provides $6 million to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to enhance their operations in preventing child abduction and sexual exploitation, supporting families, and assisting law enforcement and community stakeholders.

This program supports mentoring programs to reduce juvenile delinquency, truancy, drug abuse, victimization, and other problem and high-risk behaviors. This program furthers DOJ’s mission to uphold the rule of law, keep our country safe, and protect civil rights.

This grant provides funding to organizations that support individuals with disabilities and Deaf people, focusing on training and services to prevent and address violence and abuse against these communities.

This funding opportunity provides financial support for law enforcement agencies and their partners to enhance a secure data system that aids in investigating and preventing online child exploitation and abuse.

The "Leadership Development for Deputy Wardens and Second in Command" grant aims to provide comprehensive training and resources for deputy wardens in correctional facilities, enhancing their leadership skills, decision-making abilities, and understanding of compliance and accountability, through a modern, interactive e-course and VILT (Virtual Instructor-Led Training).

With this solicitation, OJJDP seeks to provide training and technical assistance to enhance state and local youth defense delivery systems. This program furthers the DOJs mission to reduce violent crime by supporting states and localities in their efforts to address barriers and gaps within their juvenile justice systems for indigent youth.

With this solicitation, BJA seeks to support training and technical assistance (TTA) providers assisting states to use the Justice Reinvestment Initiative (JRI) to enhance the fairness, effectiveness, and efficiency of their criminal justice system. JRIs flexible, tailored, and data-driven approach helps states identify and implement policies that are customized to address each states specific challenges and the unique structure and dynamics within each of their systems. This program reduces crime and recidivism by helping states more effectively and equitably allocate resources to address pressing criminal justice challenges and improve system outcomes.
