The FY24 PRMRP Impact Award supports applied research, defined as use-inspired and practice-oriented science that brings together outcomes from basic research, and insights from the real-world environment, to foster clinical applicability. The intent of the Impact Award is to translate the fundamental understanding of underlying mechanisms toward practical applications that have the potential for major near-term impact on patients affected by one of the diseases and conditions included in the FY24 PRMRP Topic Areas.Proposed research should refine mature concepts and ideas into translatable solutions with a view toward evaluating technical feasibility of promising new pharmacological agents, knowledge products, behavioral and rehabilitation interventions, diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, clinical guidance, and/or emerging approaches and technologies. The FY24 PRMRP Impact Award is not intended to support basic research. For the purposes of this funding opportunity, basic research is defined as exploratory science directed toward greater knowledge or understanding of the fundamental aspects of phenomena or outcomes, without specific applications toward process and products. Examples include, but are not limited to, high-risk/high-gain approaches, mechanistic studies, and preliminary data generation/validation. Applicants seeking funding for research that meets this definition should consider one of the other FY24 PRMRP program announcements being offered. For information about these award mechanisms, see Section II.A.1, FY24 PRMRP Research Development Pipeline.Pre-Application (Letter of Intent) Submission Deadline: 5:00 p.m. Eastern time (ET), May 13, 2024

NOTICE: Amended February 6, 2023: The Step-2 proposal due date has been delayed. Step-2 proposals are now due May 2, 2024 Proposers must retrieve the instructions document (zip file) associated with the application package for this opportunity as there is at least one required form that must be attached to the submitted proposal package. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate (SMD) released its annual omnibus Research Announcement (NRA), Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2023 (OMB Approval Number 2700-0092, CFDA Number 43.001) on February 14, 2023. In this case "omnibus" means that this NRA has many individual program elements, each with its own due dates and topics. All together these cover the wide range of basic and applied supporting research and technology in space and Earth sciences supported by SMD. Awards will be made as grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and inter- or intra-agency transfers, depending on the nature of the work proposed, the proposing organization, and/or program requirements. However, most extramural research awards deriving from ROSES will be grants, and many program elements of ROSES specifically exclude contracts, because contracts would not be appropriate for the nature of the work solicited. The typical period of performance for an award is three years, but some programs may allow up to five years and others specify shorter periods. In most cases, organizations of every type, Government and private, for profit and not-for-profit, domestic and foreign (with some caveats), may submit proposals without restriction on teaming arrangements. Tables listing the program elements and due dates (Tables 2 and 3), a table that provides a very top level summary of proposal contents (Table 1), and the full text of the ROSES-2023 "Summary of Solicitation", may all be found NSPIRES at http://solicitation.nasaprs.com/ROSES2023. This synopsis is associated with one of the individual program elements within ROSES, but this is a generic summary that is posted for all ROSES elements. For specific information on this particular program element download and read the PDF of the text of this program element by going to Tables 2 or 3 of this NRA at http://solicitation.nasaprs.com/ROSES2023table2 and http://solicitation.nasaprs.com/ROSES2023table3, respectively, click the title of the program element of interest, a hypertext link will take you to a page for that particular program element. On that page, on the right side under "Announcement Documents" the link on the bottom will be to the PDF of the text of the call for proposals. For example, if one were interested in The Lunar Data Analysis Program (NNH23ZDA001N-LDAP) one would follow the link to the NSPIRES page for that program element and then to read the text of the call one would click on C.8 Lunar Data Analysis (.pdf) to download the text of the call. If one wanted to set it into the context of the goals, objectives and know the default rules for all elements within Appendix C, the planetary science division, one might download and read C.1 Planetary Science Research Program Overview (.pdf) from that same page. While the letters and numbers are different for each element within ROSES (A.12, B.7, etc.) the basic configuration is always the same, e.g., the letter indicates the Science Division (A is Earth Science, B is Heliophysics etc.) and whatever the letter, #1 is always the division overview. Frequently asked questions for ROSES are posted at http://science.nasa.gov/researchers/sara/faqs. Questions concerning general ROSES-2023 policies and procedures may be directed to Max Bernstein, Lead for Research, Science Mission Directorate, at sara@nasa.gov, but technical questions concerning specific program elements should be directed to the point(s) of contact for that particular element, who may be found either at the end of the individual program element in the summary table of key information or on the web list of topics and points of contact at: http://science.nasa.gov/researchers/sara/program-officers-list. Not all program elements are known at the time of the release of ROSES. To be informed of new program elements or amendments to this NRA, proposers may subscribe to: (1) The SMD mailing lists (by logging in at http://nspires.nasaprs.com and checking the appropriate boxes under "Account Management" and "Email Subscriptions"), (2) The ROSES-2023 blog feed for amendments, clarifications, and corrections to at http://science.nasa.gov/researchers/sara/grant-solicitations/ROSES-2023, and (3) The ROSES-2023 due date Google calendars (one for each science division). Strengthen the reporting capacities of 40-50 journalists in each of the 6 workshops (total 300) and improve data-driven media reporting through these training workshops over 18 months Increase the number of actual reports, amplify the social media narrative, and increase the number of articles where the journalist ties environmental issues to policy issues. Improve reliability of information on climate and environmental issues through accurate reporting. Participants and U.S. and local experts will also discuss priority areas that can be highlighted by media for practical actions to raise awareness on climate change challenges and promote public engagement in environmental conservation to reach net zero emissions and limit global warming to 1.5C.

he DOE SC program in High Energy Physics (HEP) hereby announces its interest in receiving interdisciplinary applications for open scientific research on Quantum Information Science (QIS) Enabled Discovery (QuantISED) to further the HEP mission to understand how the universe works at its most fundamental level. Successful applications will help define an exploratory program where innovative solutions for scientific discovery are developed and deployed to advance HEP science drivers and contribute to QIS research and technology for public benefit. The QIS subprogram within HEP has been developed over the last few years with a series of workshops, followed by funding opportunities in 2018 and 2019, and is aligned with a broader SC initiative in QIS and coordinated with various national and interagency QIS programs, including the National QIS Research Centers. Cross-cutting the traditional frontiers and thrusts of the HEP program, the QIS subprogram exploits the interdisciplinary nature of QIS and associated partnerships for exploratory, early-stage research aimed at high impact discoveries aligned with HEP science goals, but also driving developments in foundational QIS and related scientific and technology research areas.Such research is intended to create public benefit within HEPs Congressionally-authorized mission space by increasing human understanding of the physical universe and driving relevant developments of advanced technologies that support that mission.
