The Patient-Centered Outcomes and Survivorship Award supports high-risk, high-reward research studies that span the spectrum of behavioral health science, survivorship, health outcomes and comparative effectiveness research, including quality of life, symptom and side effect management, resilience, co-morbid conditions, and examining the physical, psychological, social, and economic effects of lung cancer among patients and their families.The overall intent of the FY24 LCRP Patient-Centered Outcomes and Survivorship Award is to promote evidence-based and patient-centered approaches to improve health and lung cancer related outcomes and enhance the patient experience in defined populations. Research studies may include, but are not limited to:Studies to examine and improve quality of life, decision-making, and symptom and side effect management (e.g., toxicity of treatment, palliative/supportive care, psychological distress and anxiety).Studies to investigate the impact of prevention, diagnostics, treatment, or health care delivery approaches on health outcomes.Studies to assess the relationship(s) between behavioral, cognitive, and/or social functioning in relation to lung cancer detection, initiation, progression, treatment, and rehabilitation.Studies into the psychological health and well-being of those affected by lung cancer (e.g., patients, family members).Development and testing for efficacy of lifestyle interventions and symptom management approaches to minimize disease risk and maximize quality of life.Key aspects of this award mechanism are:Impact: The Patient-Centered Outcomes and Survivorship Award is intended to support research that demonstrates the potential to have a major impact on patient outcomes. Research should challenge paradigms with respect to impact on patient care and outcomes. Proposed projects may include translational or clinical research, including pilot clinical trials. Impactful research will accelerate the movement of promising ideas into clinical applications, generate knowledge to improve clinical guidelines, or significantly advance behavioral, cognitive, and/or social functioning related to the target population.Study Design: Applications should clearly articulate the chosen design of the study. Basic studies should demonstrate research strategy, feasibility, and how the study relates to the human experience with lung cancer. Studies entailing retrospective or prospective recruitment should define the type of architecture of the study (e.g., descriptive, correlational, field experimental, meta-analyses). Study populations should be defined. The rationale should support the chosen study design with statistical evaluation to back the design. Questionnaires should be described in sufficient detail to justify interpretation of potential results.Preliminary Data: The Patient-Centered Outcomes and Survivorship Award requires preliminary data for all studies that propose the active (prospective) recruitment of human subjects. Studies not proposing active recruitment of human subjects are not required to present preliminary data but should be supported by sound reasoning and relevant literature.Patient Advocate Participation: Applications to the Patient-Centered Outcomes and Survivorship Award funding opportunity are encouraged to include a patient advocate. As part of the research team, the patient advocate would assist in the development of the research question, project design, oversight, recruitment, and evaluation, as well as other significant aspects of the proposed project. The patient advocate will be a person with a history of lung cancer diagnosis. As a lay representative, the patient advocate should be active in a cancer advocacy organization. Interactions with other team members should be well integrated and ongoing, not limited to attending seminars and semi-annual meetings. The role of the patient advocate should be focused on providing objective input on the research and its potential impact for individuals with or at risk for lung cancer.

This funding opportunity provides financial support for large-scale marine debris removal projects that enhance the resilience of coastal and marine environments, benefiting local communities and economies.

The U.S. Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in developing tool to help animal-habitat relationships, assessing resource selection and population demography of birds and ungulates within grassland, shrubland, and alpine ecosystems. Development of such models and tools could directly inform land management and federal and state wildlife agency decisions on how best to manage wildlife populations across these ecosystems.

The project seeks to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations in Peru to identify, analyze, expose, and fight against corruption and impunity. By developing civil societys capacity to hold government institutions accountable, INL seeks to create solid foundations for a comprehensive effort to identify and expose corrupt acts and impunity.

The U.S. Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research supporting communications and technical transfer of sagebrush and fire related science. Successful applicants will work with the USGS Ecosystems Mission Area staff to plan and host a public-facing webinar or workshop to increase and improve technical transfer of management-relevant science, data, and tools to improve ecosystem resiliency in the sagebrush biome and increase durability of on-the-ground management actions informed by co-produced science.

Eielson AFB Central Heat and Power Plant Cooling Pond Vegetation Removal in Support of Bird Air Strike Hazard Reduction The primary objectives of this project are to assist Eielson Air Force Base (EAFB) Natural Resources with optimal management of EAFB-managed lands, to minimize restrictions to the military mission due to natural resource related constraints, and to reduce the attraction of migratory birds to the EAFB Central Heat and Power Plant (CHPP) cooling pond. Management, Species, Harbor Porpoise, (RAM#FXSBA53247215-A), Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska - The objectives of this requirement are to (1) determine Harbor Porpoise presence in Knik Arm during the winter and (2) determine the presence of Harbor Porpoise in Knik Arm and the timing and extent of upstream movement of Harbor Porpoise in the Eagle River during summer and fall. Request for Information/Sources Sought Notice-Countering Violent Extremism in Northeast Syria Among the YouthThis Request for Information (RFI) seeks insights on effective strategies to combat violent extremism, particularly among youth, in non-regime areas of Syria with a particular focus on the northeast (NES). The questions included in Attachment 1 aim to gather information on factors contributing to youth vulnerability to violent extremism. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The U.S. Embassy Dar es Salaam / Bureau of African Affairs of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to create targeted exchange programs and a conference aimed at relevant Tanzanian policymakers, civil servants, and civil society to explore internet governance structures and strategies that promote a free and open internet governance policy in Tanzania to catalyze the expansion of the local digital economy and lead to economic growth. Program Objectives: This opportunity seeks to directly engage a Tanzanian civil society organization to identify a cohort of colleagues across a range of sectors, engage the cohort through multiple education and information sessions, and organize a major international conference on the theme of building resilient, open, and democratic digital systems. The conference should include U.S. experts who can advise on regulatory firewalls, policy creation and coordination, and balancing the protection of individual rights, general online safety and security with freedom of expression principles. The "Connected Communities 2.0: Innovations to Manage Growing Transportation, Building, and Industrial Loads to the Grid" grant aims to fund projects that develop new tools and strategies for managing increased electrical loads from transportation, industry, and buildings, with a focus on improving grid resilience, promoting smart charge management for electric vehicles, and enhancing the integration of distributed energy resources, all while maintaining affordability for customers.

This program provides scholarships to students pursuing cybersecurity education at accredited U.S. institutions, with the goal of increasing the number of qualified cybersecurity professionals in government service.

Funding for the program is authorized under section 611(c)(1) of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which gives the Secretary authority to reserve not more than one-half of one percent of the amounts appropriated under Part B for each fiscal year to provide TA activities, where needed, to improve the capacity of States to meet the data collection and reporting requirements under Parts B and C of IDEA. The maximum amount the Secretary may reserve under this set-aside for any fiscal year is $25,000,000, cumulatively adjusted by the rate of inflation. Section 616(i) of IDEA requires the Secretary to review the data collection and analysis capacity of States to ensure that data and information determined necessary for implementation of sections 616 and 642 of IDEA are collected, analyzed, and accurately reported to the Secretary. It also requires the Secretary to provide TA, where needed, to improve the capacity of States to meet the data collection requirements, which include the data collection and reporting requirements in sections 616 and 618 of IDEA. In addition, the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, Public Law 118-47, gives the Secretary authority to use funds reserved under section 611(c) of IDEA to administer and carry out other services and activities to improve data collection, coordination, quality, and use under Parts B and C of the IDEA.
