The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The overarching goal of this NHGRI R25 program is to support educational activities that encourage undergraduates from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in the biomedical workforce, to pursue further training and careers in the scientific, medical, ethical, social and/or legal areas of genomics research. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on: Research Experiences Courses for Skills Development This Genome Research Experiences to Attract Talented Undergraduates into the Genomic Field to Promote Diversity (GREAT) Program will support collaborative institutional partnerships that provide research education programs for undergraduates enrolled at minority-serving institutions (MSIs) or Institutional Development Award (IDeA)-eligible institutions. A partnership will include a MSI or IDeA-eligible institution, and one or more research-intensive institutions or organizations with a suitable research base for graduate-level training in scientific areas of interest to NHGRI.

The National Dam Safety Program (NDSP) State Assistance grants provides assistance to encourage the establishment and maintenance of effective state programs intended to ensure dam safety, protect human life and property, and improve state dam safety programs. This grant provides funding to small businesses for pre-clinical research projects that have previously received Phase II SBIR or STTR awards, helping them advance promising biotechnology products towards commercialization.

Proposers must retrieve the instructions document (zip file) associated with the application package for this opportunity as there is at least one required form that must be attached to the submitted proposal package. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate (SMD) released its annual omnibus Research Announcement (NRA), Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2024 (OMB Approval Number 2700-0092, CFDA Number 43.001) on February 14, 2024. In this case "omnibus" means that this NRA has many individual program elements, each with its own due dates and topics. All together these cover the wide range of basic and applied supporting research and technology in space and Earth sciences supported by SMD. Awards will be made as grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and inter- or intra-agency transfers, depending on the nature of the work proposed, the proposing organization, and/or program requirements. However, most extramural research awards deriving from ROSES will be grants, and many program elements of ROSES specifically exclude contracts, because contracts would not be appropriate for the nature of the work solicited. The typical period of performance for an award is three years, but some programs may allow up to five years and others specify shorter periods. The purpose of the NIDA Animal Genetics Program is to identify genetic, genomic, and molecular (epi)genetic variants that underlie: 1. Phenotypes associated with addictive behaviors and/or vulnerability to distinct stages along the substance use disorder (SUD) trajectory (e.g. initial/acute use, escalation of use, acquisition of tolerance, dependence, uncontrolled use, abstinence and relapse or recovery); 2. Behaviors associated with SUD (e.g. impulsivity, novelty seeking, delayed discounting, and other genetically-associated phenotypes); and 3. Comorbidities that demonstrate genetic correlations with phenotypes and behaviors linked with SUD (e.g. anxiety, stress, poor maternal care, social defeat, and other paradigms). Applications may examine any type of variant, including single nucleotide variants (SNVs), indels, large and small structural variants, and all types of mobile DNA. NIDA encourages applications that take genomics, multi-omics, and/or data-based approaches that integrate multi-level omics data, delineate gene networks, and/or uncover the function of known or newly discovered genetic or epigenetic variants. NIDA expects these studies to uncover novel mechanisms that contribute to SUD and facilitate the discovery of targets for intervention and guide the development of individualized therapeutics to treat these different aspects of SUD.

The 2024 ASEAN Reporters Tour is the second iteration of a USASEAN-funded program to build a network and a sense of collective identity among regionally focused journalists from each of the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, while providing information and insight from important and credible voices on a range of issues. The 2024 program will highlight the positive economic relationship between the United States and ASEAN, with a secondary focus on emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the digital economy, as well as how the public and private sectors of the United States work with and support ASEAN and its member states. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is announcing the availability of funds for Cooperative Agreements (CA) establishing Suicide Mortality Review (SMR) processes and SMR committees (SMRC). Awards made for SMR-CA are anticipated to be funded by September 30, 2024. This is anticipated to be a one-year award with an optional one-year extension possible. This opportunity supports States, territories, and Tribal entities in establishing, coordinating, and managing SMRCs to identify and characterize suicide deaths and support the capacity to develop and implement data-informed strategies to prevent suicide, including suicide among veterans. These SMR-CAs aim to establish and increase the capacity of States, territories, and Tribes to collect high-quality uniform suicide death data, expand suicide death reviews, and ultimately translate data into suicide prevention actions at community, State, territorial, Tribal, and national levels. HUD is funding studies to improve knowledge of housing-related health and safety hazards and to improve or develop new hazard assessment and control methods, with a focus on lead and other key residential health and safety hazards. HUD is especially interested in applications that will advance our knowledge of priority healthy homes issues by addressing important gaps in science related to the accurate and efficient identification of hazards and the implementation of cost-effective hazard mitigation. This includes studies using implementation sciences in identifying specific conditions under which residential environmental hazard interventions, that have been shown to be effective in specific housing types and residential settings, can be assessed in other contexts.

This funding opportunity supports institutions conducting clinical trials focused on improving dental, oral, and craniofacial health by allowing them to extend or revise ongoing studies to gather more data or address new research needs.

With this solicitation, BJA seeks to support the Departments priorities of reducing violent crime and supporting law enforcement officers and prosecutors by: Providing jurisdictions (including rural and tribal) with resources to address unsubmitted sexual assault kits (SAKs) (including partially tested kits) in their custody that have not been submitted to a forensic laboratory for testing with Combined DNA Index System (CODIS)-eligible DNA methodologies. Improving investigations and prosecutions in connection with evidence and cases resulting from the SAK testing process, as well as other violent cold case crimes. Providing sites with resources to collect DNA samples from qualifying individuals who should have a sample in CODIS, but from whom a sample has never been collected or submitted to a laboratory for testing, as well as developing/reforming policies for arrestee collections, if legally permissible in the awardees jurisdiction. In addition to addressing unsubmitted SAKs, the National Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) addresses partially tested SAKs, as defined herein, and untested evidence associated with sexually motivated homicides and other violent cold case crimes.

Under this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), DOL will award grants through a competitive process to organizations providing pre-apprenticeship services that support education, occupational skills training, and employment services to opportunity youth, ages 16 to 24, who are performing meaningful work and service to their communities. The YouthBuild program model prepares participants for quality jobs in a variety of careers, in diverse industry sectors, particularly in infrastructure sectors, and includes wrap-around services such as mentoring, trauma-informed care, personal counseling, transportation supports, and employment preparation - all key strategies for addressing violence in communities. YouthBuild applicants must include construction skills training and may include occupational skills training in other in-demand industries. This expansion into additional in-demand industries is the Construction Plus component. Eligible applicants for these grants are public or private non-profit agencies or organizations, including consortia of such agencies or organizations. These organizations include rural, urban, or Native American/Tribal entities that have previously served opportunity youth in a YouthBuild or other similar program. DOL will fund approximately 75 projects across the country. Individual grants will range from $700,000 to $1.5 million and require a 25 percent match from applicants, using sources other than federal funding. This FOA features a matching waiver for Tribal entities and U.S. insular areas which allows these entities to not include a match commitment in their applications. The grant period of performance for this FOA is 40 months, including a four-month planning period and a twelve-month follow-up period.

The purpose of this grant program is to build community colleges capacity to meet the skill development needs of employers and equitably support students in obtaining good jobs in in-demand industries. Grantees will enhance sector-based career pathways programs using strategies rooted in evidence and designed to build further evidence on the effectiveness of sector-based career pathways programs in leading to positive employment outcomes. Successful applicants will use the diverse strengths of their SCC Partnership members to accomplish and sustain systems change.

The purpose of the THCGME Program is to support the training of residents inprimary care residency training programs in community-based ambulatory patientcare centers. These residency programs will prepare residents to provide high-qualitycare, particularly in rural and underserved communities, and develop competenciesto serve these diverse populations and communities. The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to implement the Partnership to Advance Research and Scientific Evidence (PARSE), a project to generate evidence-based research to counter crime, illegal drugs, and instability abroad. Expected results from this project are twofold. First the project should generate the identification of priority research themes, areas, or questions. Second, the project will enable the production of select synthesis reports and novel studies. Both results must fill public knowledge gaps by providing methodologically rigorous, relevant, actionable, and contextually diverse (international) insight on what works best to advance sustainable and effective criminal justice systems, approaches, and practices. Through actionable AND scientifically substantiated knowledge, the project results should be able to inform strategies or approaches to improve civilian security, mitigate internal and transnational threats and risks, and contribute to stable criminal justice institutions amongst U.S. partners abroad. Applicants must be able to generate results that clearly, concretely, and compellingly convey evidence-based findings to non-scholarly audiences within the rule of law community. These audiences include but are not limited to law enforcement and justice sector officials as well as other decision makers and practitioners involved in policy formulation, program design, and strategic/operational/project/tactical implementation.
