This demand can be aided through the development of AI scientists, intelligent agents built within a technological framework that iteratively improves through new generations of generative AI and related capabilities and trained through regular learning and adapting interactions with USGS scientists.

The Zoo Labs: FUND, administered in partnership with the Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI), is a funding and investment initiative designed to support Bay Area entrepreneurs who are launching or growing businesses centered around music. With a strong emphasis on culturally-rooted artist teams, the program offers unrestricted funding to music ventures that align with values of cultural preservation, innovation, economic empowerment, and community enrichment. In 2025, the FUND will distribute a total of $230,000 in grants, prioritizing artist teams that face barriers to accessing capital and are committed to contributing to the Bay Area's creative ecosystem. Zoo Labs: FUND provides grants in four tiers: $5,000, $15,000, $25,000, and $50,000, with award size contingent upon the team’s business development stage. Eligibility requires applicant teams of at least two individuals, including one culturally-rooted artist, who all reside full-time in specified Bay Area counties. Teams may include various roles such as content creators, producers, engineers, and advisors, and must be operating a music-centered business, whether as a nonprofit, sole proprietorship, or for-profit organization. Prior grantees may reapply if they meet reporting and mentorship obligations from previous awards. Applicants must complete an online submission through CCI’s Submittable platform between May 19 and July 7, 2025. Required materials include a team pitch video, business matrix, one work sample, and a budget with notes. Applications are assessed based on the strength of the team, artistry and craft, entrepreneurship, and internal and external community impact. An independent panel reflecting diverse backgrounds will review the materials and recommend grantees. The notification of awards is scheduled for September 8, 2025. In addition to receiving financial support, awardees gain access to mentorship opportunities through Zoo Labs: LEARN. These include on-demand courses, virtual networking sessions, and for higher-tier recipients, a strategy session with Zoo Labs Co-Founder Vinitha Watson. All grantees must attend a virtual orientation on October 15, 2025, and participate in at least one one-on-one business mentorship session. Recipients of $25,000 or $50,000 grants are also invited to serve as voluntary mentors to future applicants. The grant supports activities from September 2025 through September 2026. The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research on applications of isotopic and elemental geochemistry to ecologic as well as surface and groundwater hydrologic problems. Essential components of the funding opportunity are: 1) student, faculty, and laboratory support for application, refinement, and development of geochemical methods, that 2) address solute and water sources and transport pathways, through 3) application of a wide range of stable and radioisotopic systems (ranging from hydrogen, helium, and lithium through uranium and lead), by 4) analysis of the isotopic and elemental composition of diverse sample media (including plant and animal tissue, sediment, rock, and aqueous phases, especially high salinity brine).

AgWest Farm Credit's New Producer Grant Program supports new agricultural producers who have two years or less of operational experience or plan to start their operation within two years of applying. The Parks & Public Space Initiative, supported by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, focuses on enhancing public lands within the Greater Oklahoma City area. This initiative stems from the Margaret Annis Boys Trust, established in 1991, with a mission to encourage landscaping and beautification projects in public spaces such as parks, medians, and other public lands. The foundation's strategic priority is to foster community engagement and improve the quality of public spaces for residents, aligning with a theory of change that posits improved public spaces lead to increased community well-being and utilization. The target beneficiaries of this grant program include neighborhood/community groups, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, and local government agencies within Oklahoma County that are connected to parks, school parks, trails, and other public spaces. The program aims to achieve several impact goals: increasing the utilization of public spaces for recreation, cultural, and health improvement; engaging various community entities in improving these spaces and their programs; and enhancing community stewardship of parks, school parks, trails, and other public lands. The initiative prioritizes funding landscaping and beautification projects in public community spaces, including neighborhood/community parks, school parks, trails, public medians, and other public lands in central Oklahoma. Eligible items for funding include plant materials, soil amendments, mulch, irrigation, and landscape amenities like shade structures and benches. Master plans and tree canopy studies are also considered. While the majority of grants support infrastructure and related activities, neighborhood streetscapes are a lower priority. Projects must be completed within one year and be open and accessible to the public. Expected outcomes and measurable results include a demonstrable increase in the use of public spaces, improved aesthetic quality of parks and public lands, and stronger community involvement in the planning, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of these projects. A significant volunteer component is required for each proposal, underscoring the program's commitment to fostering community stewardship. Additionally, a realistic location, installation, and maintenance plan with identified responsibilities and budget must be submitted to ensure the project’s sustainability, with tree plantings specifically requiring a three-year maintenance plan for establishment.
