To be eligible for funding, organizations must have tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, be headquartered and provide services within the Greater St. Louis Community, and maintain a focus on arts and culture. The foundation does not make grants to individuals or for-profit businesses, organizations or projects outside of the St. Louis Metropolitan Area, or organizations that discriminate on the basis of certain characteristics. The application process involves completing a web form and submitting required attachments, such as a board of directors or officers list, IRS letter indicating tax-exempt status, audited financial statement, project budget, and other relevant documents.
