The Public Education, Participation, and Outreach (PEPO) Grant Program, established in 2022, provides funding for statewide education and outreach initiatives and supports individual coordinators for each of Colorado's basin roundtables. The program aims to enhance public awareness of water issues in line with the Colorado Water Plan and respective Basin Implementation Plans. Grants are available in two categories: funding up to $25,000 for Basin Coordinators to manage education and outreach within their basin, and Statewide Initiatives grants for broader educational projects. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), intends to promote a new initiative by publishing a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications that propose the development and early stage validation of novel humanized small animal models and/or human cellular microphysiological systems for NeuroHIV preclinical research. The goal of this initiative is to promote a significant improvement in the translational relevance of NeuroHIV models, specifically in the context of chronic HIV infection of the central nervous system (CNS) in the modern antiretroviral therapy (ART) era under conditions of viral suppression. The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to invite applications to establish integrated and collaborative Stillbirth Research Centers, as part of a new Stillbirth Research Consortium. The Centers will support cutting-edge basic, translational, clinical, and/or data sciences research and generate knowledge to fuel advancement of stillbirth-relevant research in the United States, with a particular emphasis on approaches that utilize an equity lens to identify ways to decrease the incidence of stillbirth in vulnerable populations. The Naturally Lewis Building Business Fund aims to support business growth in Lewis County by providing matching funds for businesses to acquire necessary tools, both literal (equipment/machinery) and figurative (business services/professional services). This initiative is designed to bolster the local economy by facilitating the expansion or diversification of businesses, with an emphasis on projects that demonstrate a clear benefit to the community, including economic development, job creation, introduction of new products or services, and enhancement of cultural or recreational opportunities. Eligible projects may involve equipment, machinery, working capital, training, and workforce development, but cannot include construction or capital improvements. Applications open on July 1, 2024, with a deadline of September 26, 2024. Grant awards range from $10,000 to $50,000.
