This grant provides funding for research aimed at understanding the factors that contribute to health disparities in HIV and aging among racial and ethnic minorities, low-income populations, and other underserved groups, focusing on how multiple health conditions affect their overall well-being and quality of life.

The purpose of the Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program is to improve the health outcomes and quality of life for populations at increased risk for the development of radiogenic cancers and/or disease resulting from exposure to radioactive materials through uranium mine industry work or fallout from nuclear arms testing. The United States conducted 227 above-ground and 828 below-ground nuclear weapons tests between July 1945 and November 1962. Many of the above-ground tests released radioactive material into the atmosphere. That material reached the ground as nuclear fallout. The dangers of radiation exposure were unknown at the time. Workers did not receive protection. People who lived near the test sites were not warned of potential dangers or told to evacuate. Workers and residents had radiation exposure from touching fallout on the ground, breathing polluted air, eating polluted foods, and drinking polluted water. People exposed to radiation generated by the nuclear weapons tests are at risk for certain cancers and other serious health problems.

This funding opportunity is designed to support researchers investigating the connections between HIV/AIDS and various health issues related to diabetes, digestive, kidney, and metabolic diseases, particularly focusing on the complications and social factors affecting people living with HIV.

This FOA solicits applications for new Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (BSSR) predoctoral training programs that focus on innovative computational and/or data science analytic approaches and their incorporation into training for the future BSSR health research workforce. The vision of the Advanced Data Analytics for BSSR training program is to support the development of a cohort of specialized predoctoral candidates who will possess advanced competencies in data science analytics to apply to an increasingly complex landscape of behavioral and social health-related big data. The primary goal of this Institutional Research Training Grant is to provide short-term training for medical students to obtain necessary aging research experiences and technical expertise and skills early during their education to encourage them to pursue careers in research. Other health professional students may also benefit from such short-term training and are eligible when research training is a minor part of, or nonexistent in, their doctoral program. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) seeks to foster new multi-disciplinary teams to address how HIV Comorbidities and co-infections within the missions of NIDDK and NIAID interact with viral reservoirs, potentially confounding cure strategies aimed at either sustained viral suppression or elimination from the body. These teams will mechanistically interrogate the impact of inflammation, metabolic perturbations, or other pathophysiological processes associated with these comorbidities or co-infections on reservoir dynamics, and/or the interplay of these conditions and co-infections on HIV reservoir biology in ways that are likely to interact with potential cure strategies.

The purpose of this supplemental funding is to strengthen organizational capacity to respond to the changing health care landscape and increase access to high quality family-centered HIV primary health care services for low income women, infants, children and youth (WICY) with HIV. The Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) Part D funds outpatient family-centered primary and specialty medical care for low-income women, infants, children, and youth with HIV. Part D funding also may be used to provide support services to people with HIV and their affected family members. The Enhancing HIV Care of Women, Infants, Children and Youth: Building Capacity through Communities of Practice program is a platform for RWHAP Part D recipients to increase the delivery of evidence-based interventions, evidence-informed interventions, and emerging interventions that enhance client outcomes; increase the skill level of the HIV workforce providing care and treatment to women, infants, children, and youth; and involve partner collaboration for dissemination of best practices. During the four-year initiative, which began in fiscal year (FY) 2023, the Communities of Practice are focusing on three areas: ■ Pre-conception counseling, including sexual health (2023–2024) ■ Trauma-informed care (2024–2025) ■ The transition from youth services to adult care (2025–2026)

This grant provides funding to support advanced students and postdoctoral researchers in neuroscience, helping them gain the skills needed to translate basic research into clinical applications for neurological diseases.

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks rigorous research and demonstration projects to increase the impact of existing crime and justice research evidence. Specifically, NIJ seeks to fund research that leverages implementation science knowledge and promotes evidence-based policy and practice most directly by developing, supporting, and evaluating efforts to improve research evidence use by policymakers, agency leaders, intermediaries, and other decision-makers who shape justice outcomes. OJP is committed to advancing work that promotes civil rights and equity, increases access to justice, supports crime victims and individuals impacted by the justice system, strengthens community safety and protects the public from crime and evolving threats, and builds trust between law enforcement and the community. Applicants are encouraged to propose multidisciplinary research teams to build on the complementary strengths of different methods and areas of subject matter expertise. NIJ also seeks proposals that include consideration and measurement of issues of diversity, discrimination, and bias across age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation, as applicable. Applications proposing research involving partnerships with juvenile justice, criminal justice, or other agencies should include a strong letter of support, signed by an appropriate decisionmaking authority from each proposed, partnering agency. A letter of support should include the partnering agency’s acknowledgment that de-identified data derived from, provided to, or obtained through an award funded by NIJ will be archived by the grant recipient with the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD) at the conclusion of the award. Applicants and their potential partners are encouraged to review NIJ’s data archiving guidance. If selected for an award, grantees will be expected to have a formal agreement in place with partnering agencies by January 1, 2025. That formal agreement must include a provision to meet the data archiving requirements of the award. NIJ seeks proposals that include robust, creative, and multi-pronged dissemination strategies that include strategic partnerships with organizations and associations that are best equipped to ensure that research findings lead to changes in policies and practices. Special consideration will be given to proposals that dedicate at least 15% of the requested project award funding toward implementing such strategies, as demonstrated in the “Budget Worksheet and Budget Narrative.” In the case of partnerships that will involve the use of federal award funds by multiple partnering agencies to carry out the proposed project, only one entity/partnering agency may be the applicant (as is the case with any application submitted in response to this solicitation); any others must be proposed as subrecipients. The applicant is expected to conduct the preponderance of the work proposed.

The purpose of the Maternity Care Nursing Workforce Expansion Program is to grow and diversify maternal and perinatal health nursing workforce by supporting the planning/development of new midwife training programs. This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding under the Maternity Care Nursing Workforce Expansion (MatCare) Program. The purpose of the MatCare Program is to support accredited nurse midwifery programs to train nurse midwives through trainee scholarships, stipends, curriculum enhancement, and community-based training. The program seeks to grow and diversify the maternal and perinatal health nursing workforce through support for education and training in rural and underserved communities. Program Goals 1. Increase the number of Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) and diversify the maternal and perinatal health nursing workforce 2. The NIDCD Early Career Research (ECR) Award (R21) supports early-career scientists in conducting basic and clinical research related to hearing, balance, smell, taste, voice, speech, or language, with the goal of generating preliminary data for future R01 grant applications.

The Grain Storage Facility Safety Cost-Share Program, managed by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA), is designed to assist Minnesota farmers in enhancing safety at on-farm grain bins and silos. For the fiscal year 2024, approximately $75,000 is allocated to this program, which also encompasses the Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) Rebate programs. This initiative offers financial assistance for the purchase, shipment, and installation of eligible safety equipment, focusing on retrofits for existing facilities. Eligible equipment includes fall protection systems, engineering controls, dust collection systems, personal protective equipment, grain silo air quality monitoring equipment, and other specified safety gear. The program reimburses 75% of the eligible expenses, up to $400 per bin or silo, with a yearly cap of $2,400 per farm.
