To further support the mission of the Social Service Grant (SSG) program, the City Council has approved an additional $250,000 specifically for mental health programs and services. Funds awarded must be expended this calendar year. In order to maximize impact on Napervilleโs mental health needs, some restrictions of the SSG program have been removed. Please review the guidelines below before beginning your application: 1) Organizations applying are not required to be a non-profit 501(c)(3) or recognized by the State of Illinois as a non-profit organization. School districts, medical providers, coalitions and faith communities are welcome to apply, as are non-profit organizations and providers. Entities that have already received 2024 SSG funding are eligible to apply for additional funding. 2) Programs and services must impact mental health and Naperville residents. This can include individual or group counseling, prevention or early-intervention care, crisis care, treatment for trauma, and suicide prevention. If you are unsure about eligibility, please contact the Community Grants Coordinator. 3) Grants are reimbursement-based. Grantees must accrue costs prior to requesting reimbursement from the City of Naperville. 4) Applications are available May 1, 2024 and due May 31, 2024. 5) Grant funds will be awarded in June 2024 and must be expended, with reimbursements processed, by December 31, 2024. Please tailor your request to ensure funds can be expended within this timeframe. A Final Program & Financial Report must be filed by January 31, 2025. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) intends to issue the U54 Specialized Programs of Research Excellence in Cancer Health Disparities and Minority Health (CHD-MH SPORE) notice of funding opportunity (NOFO). The program will support a network of multidisciplinary, multi-institutional U54 CHD-MH SPOREs, which are multi-project awards uniquely focused on health disparities and/or minority health translational research for improved prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer in populations who are underserved. U54 CHD-MH SPOREs can investigate more than one cancer type in underserved populations, including groups of highly related cancers (e.g., gastrointestinal or head and neck). The research supported through this program must be translational and must stem from research on human biology, addressing the interplay of various determinants of health with the biology of the disease. U54 CHD-MH SPORE projects must have the goal of reaching a translational human endpoint within the project period of the grant, which may include a clinical trial. This Notice of Intent to Publish is being provided to allow sufficient time for applicants to develop strong applications. The NOFO is expected to be published in late winter 2024 with only one expected application due date in late September 2024.

The New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) is making up to $3M in Title I Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Statewide Activities funding available under the Apprenticeship Expansion Grant (AEG-4) Request for Applications (RFA). The purpose of this RFA is to expand New York State (NYS) Registered Apprenticeship (RA) training by increasing employment opportunities for approximately 130 apprentices, with a focus on underrepresented populations. These apprentices will enter trades in high-demand occupations, with a focus on the emerging fields of Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare, Hospitality, and Information Technology, as well as other in-demand occupations.
