The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office, https://cops.usdoj.gov) is pleased to announce that it is seeking applications for funding for the FY24 Safer Outcomes: Enhancing De-Escalation and Crisis Response Training for Law Enforcement Expansion of Regional De-Escalation Training Centers program. The goal of this solicitation is to promote safe outcomes during police encounters with persons in crisis through the expansion of the COPS Office network of regional de-escalation training centers. These centers provide relevant de-escalation and crisis response training for law enforcement in a multistate region. Awards under this solicitation will be made to training centers administered by institutions of higher education and nonprofit organizations with experience providing training to law enforcement at the national or regional level. Training is supported for law enforcement officers, support personnel employed by law enforcement agencies, and mental health professionals working on a crisis intervention team as an employee of a law enforcement agency or under a legal agreement with a law enforcement agency.

The purpose of this Notice is to alert the community that the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) plans to reissue initiativeRFA-NS-21-033 Materials to Enhance Training in Experimental Rigor (METER) with one receipt date. The program is designed to support the compilation and refinement of educational materials that will be incorporated into a new cutting-edge online resource that aims to promote awareness, understanding, and practice of fundamental principles of rigorous biomedical research for scientists in various career stages and learning environments. Awardees will collaborate with the established coordinating center, which is funded by the companionRFA-NS-21-009 Creating an Educational Nexus for Training in Experimental Rigor (CENTER). This coordinating center (CENTER) is responsible for organizing the initiative, building the final web-based platform, harmonizing the educational units, and producing digital elements (e.g., videos, graphics, interactive components) that are beyond the technical capabilities of METER awardees. This collaboration between CENTER and METER awardees will include activities to improve, finalize, evaluate, and disseminate the resulting educational units drafted by METER awardees. This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. The NOFO is expected to be published in Summer 2024 with an expected application due date in October 2024. This NOFO will utilize the UE5 activity code. The U.S. Embassy to Angola and Sao Tome e Principe in Luanda is pleased to announce the availability of an open competition funding opportunity to carry out a project to empower lawyers, legal professionals, and human rights defenders to advocate for access to justice for vulnerable populations and provide adequate defense in cases of human rights violations, particularly in cases related to freedom of speech and assembly and arbitrary detention of human rights defenders. The project aims to create a unified vision for the legal defense of human rights in Angola. While the law states that all detainees have a right to legal counsel, either chosen by them or appointed by the government on a pro bono basis, legal professionals report that there are an insufficient number of lawyers to handle the volume of criminal cases. This situation is exacerbated for vulnerable populations (women, youth, underrepresented ethnic groups), detainees outside of Luanda, and cases involving sensitive human rights issues. This project should complement and build upon prior and ongoing work in these areas by international organizations, or non-governmental organizations (NGOs), but ideally would seek to meet challenges not currently being addressed by other projects.

Through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), GCJ seeks applications to support accountability processes for alleged atrocity crimes committed globally by members of the Wagner Group and analogous Kremlin-backed paramilitaries, including tracking enablers of these entities, which include corporate actors and financial services firms. Accountability processes can include investigations being pursued by national authorities, including by Ukraines Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG), or other domestic authorities, including where national systems may exercise extraterritorial jurisdiction; cases before international and hybrid courts; efforts to achieve corporate accountability through corporate governance, civil, or administrative proceedings; and proceedings before human rights mechanisms.

This notice of funding opportunity (NOFO), utilizing the U24 grant funding mechanism, encourages applications for a collaborating Data Coordinating Center (DCC) application that accompanies an investigator-initiated multi site clinical trial (Phase III and beyond) application submitted under companion PAR-21-243. The DCC application must be specific to the companion Clinical Coordinating Center (CCC) application. The objective of the DCC application is to propose a comprehensive plan that provides overall project coordination, and administrative, data management, and biostatistical support for the proposed clinical trial. Both a DCC application and a corresponding CCC application need to be submitted simultaneously for consideration by NCCIH. Trials for which this NOFO applies must be relevant to the research mission of NCCIH and considered a high priority by the Center. A key pillar of U.S. strategy in India is to strengthen Indias innovation and entrepreneurship eco-system while also advancing the role of women in the economy and the workforce. Building on the success of our Academy of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) 2023 program, U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad proposes in 2024 to create an AWE program of 60 total participants for an intensive, four month, workshop style training and mentorship program. Our AWE program will provide training in basic business principles using the established Academy of Women Entrepreneurs/DreamBuilder curriculum. Building on the DreamBuilder framework, we seek to add value for participants by including extensive USG alumni engagement, including the participation of distinguished alumni as speakers and as informal mentors to all participants. Hyderabads AWE program will again also tap into existing U.S. government-funded resources to provide additional value to participants, including the use of our American Corners for in-person event locations and the use of a specialist to help participants hone their business communications and presentation skills. For 2024, priority for participation will be given to underrepresented groups, including Muslim women.

The overarching goal of the Risk MAP Program is to enhance flood-resilient communities, including underserved communities. The CTP Program supports this goal by establishing, maintaining, and improving collaborative working relationships; ensuring timely and accurate delivery of data to communities to support flood risk reduction and mitigation; and program ownership. Additionally, CTP supports Risk MAPs goal of ensuring the long-term flood resiliency of communities, including underserved communities. The objectives of the CTP program are primarily to support the mission and objectives of the NFIPs Flood Hazard Mapping Program through FEMAs flood hazard identification and risk assessment programs, including the Risk MAP program. Objectives include: Ensure extensive stakeholder engagement throughout the lifecycle of a project so that stakeholders have access to flood hazard data and risk information to validate and use for community resiliency. Stakeholders in CTP projects typically include community and tribal leaders; business and property owners; regional, tribal, and state partners; and local elected officials. Enhance communities ability to make informed decisions on development using updated information by ensuring it is delivered to communities in a timely manner and on budget. Improve acceptance and use of the flood hazard data and risk information, through delivery of high-quality products to communities.
