PAS Paramaribo invites proposals from NGOs, individuals and government educational institutions for programs that contribute to the improvement of social, economic or environmental conditions in Suriname and which further one or more of the priorities listed below. All programs must include a connection with American cultural element(s), expert(s), organization(s) or institution(s) that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy, culture, and perspectives.Priority Program Areas Strengthening democracy Promoting civic involvement, free and fair elections, or democratic governance at the local or national level in a non-partisan manner.Addressing climate change and environmental education Nurturing efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change and reduce food and water insecurity, particularly among underserved and vulnerable populations.Limiting Corruption - Supporting efforts to counter or prevent corruption in business or government, including efforts to develop greater fiscal transparency, enhance the rule of law, and/or protect intellectual property rights.Supporting a free and expressive media environment Strengthening the professionalism of the media and/or advancing media literacy within the population.Advancing diversity, equality, inclusion, and accessibility for all marginalized communities Addressing issues involving ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, physical disabilities, and/or indigenous and tribal communities.Promoting academic linkages Creating programs or exchanges designed to increase college and university professional linkages between the U.S. and Suriname, especially with community colleges and technical schools.Empowering women Creating programs focused on the mentorship of women entrepreneurs and/or supporting womens increased participation in civil society.Developing Alumni Supporting programs led by, supported by, or involving the Suriname American Alumni Association, its members, or alumni of U.S. exchange programs.Enhancing agricultural production Supporting efforts that advance understanding of modern agricultural practices and expanding entrepreneurship skills with the goal of increasing exports to U.S. and EU markets.Supporting cultural exchange Hosting cultural performances, artistic workshops, trainings, and exhibitions that highlight the deep and ongoing ties between the United States and Suriname and our shared democratic values.

This grant supports interdisciplinary research partnerships between artificial intelligence and geoscience experts to advance understanding and innovation in geosciences while promoting diversity and workforce development in STEM fields.

The United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), through the Public Diplomacy Section (PDS), is pleased to announce a Notice of Funding Opportunity to design and implement the BOLD (Balkanski Omladinski Lideri, Young Balkan Leaders) Small Grants Mentoring Program. The BOLD network is a project of PDS that seeks to empower young people, ages 18-35, through leadership opportunities and training, to implement projects for positive change in their communities. This mentoring program is complementary to the BOLD Small Grants Competitions, which will be announced in separate notices of funding opportunities. One Small Grants Competition will be open to all BOLD members, while the other will be open only to BOLD fellowship alumni to compete for funds of up to $15,000 to implement projects in the areas of economic development and civic engagement over the course of a year. Funding will be awarded to grantees of the small grant competition only after they work with the applicant in a mentoring workshop to fine-tune their projects (see no. 1 below). The goal of the mentoring program is to equip awardees of the grant competition with the skills and support needed, throughout the grant year, to effectively implement their projects in their communities, and to become skilled project managers and grant administrators. The applicant will be expected to guide the winning grantees through the administrative process of receiving their award, successfully implementing their program, handling problems as they arise, and regularly reporting on the projects progress to PDS. The most qualified applicants will have a thorough understanding of the U.S. governments grant process and how to be a steward of those funds for the most effective outcome. Applicants should also be willing and available to expertly impart that knowledge and experience to young grantees who are seeking to successfully make a difference in their communities.

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to develop artificial intelligence tools and experimental assays to identify new pharmacotherapeutics with lower toxicity and higher efficacy for substance use disorders (SUD) Areas of interest include but are not limited to: 1) Development of AI tools to identify potential target combinations, design new molecules, conduct virtual preclinical studies to predict efficacy and toxicity, and model in vitro and in vivo polypharmacology 2) Development of assays to assess the effects of compounds on multiple targets or functions

The NIH INvestigation of Co-occurring conditions across the Lifespan to Understand Down syndromE (INCLUDE) Project seeks to improve health and quality-of-life for individuals with Down syndrome. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is soliciting Transformative Research Award applications to support individual scientists or groups of scientists proposing groundbreaking, exceptionally innovative, original, and/or unconventional research that has the potential to create new scientific paradigms, establish entirely new and improved clinical approaches, or develop transformative technologies related to Down syndrome. For the program to support the best possible researchers and research, applications are sought which reflect the full diversity of the nations research workforce. The Public Diplomacy Section (PD) of the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs (U.S.OPA) announces an open competition for a grant through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). The U.S. Public Diplomacy FY24 Palestinian Peacebuilding program is designed to partner with Palestinian, American, and International non-profit/non-governmental organizations to implement activities which advance the applicants goals and the U.S.OPA mission, including but not limited to Advancing a comprehensive and lasting peace through a negotiated two state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the development of a vibrant, representative, and responsive Palestinian civil society, private sector and governing institutions. This must include substantive engagement with American people, institutions, ideas, and ideals in order to improve American-Palestinian relations and create greater opportunities for mutually beneficial partnership and cooperation. Priority Region: Jerusalem, West Bank, and Gaza or a combination of two or three of them. Program Objectives: All proposed projects must aim to advance the U.S.OPA-PD mission goals stated above, contain a substantive American element, and achieve at least one of the following specific objectives: Young Palestinians between the ages of 14-35 increase their knowledge of peacebuilding, nonviolent activism, social change, negotiation, debate skills, conflict resolution, and civic education; Young Palestinians between the ages of 14-35 imagine alternatives to occupation, violence, despair, or apathy; Training and capacity building for civil society leaders to continue working with youth on nonviolent activism and peacebuilding; Creating discussion groups among youth about the two-state solution, its history, and imagining and discussing options for solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; Training for social media influencers about the two-state solution and identifying and discussing the most common concerns of Palestinian youth when it comes to this topic. Each proposal must have a substantial monitoring and evaluation component that will contribute to research in the field of peacebuilding to make data-based decisions that make an impact on the ground. We will give special consideration to proposals which incorporate the following elements as techniques or tools for meeting the strategic goals identified above: Cooperation in project implementation between two civil society organizations Alumni of U.S. government programs and exchanges, this could include building upon previous programs or launching new initiatives with alumni from past projects Grassroots elements that support underserved communities. This project proposal does not need to have an Israeli element or a component of bringing Israelis and Palestinians together, but it must be building the conditions and laying the groundwork for a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Please describe your theory of change and how you believe your project serves this goal as part of your proposal. The work plan should identify clear problems related to the strategic goals described herein, and propose feasible solutions based on a concrete and coherent methodology to address the problems identified.
