Kansas Grants

The $15,000 Community Grant aims to offer unprecedented larger funding opportunities through SCCF, fostering forward-thinking projects with substantial community or county impact. Eligible entities including nonprofits, schools, cities, and churches within Barber, Comanche, Kingman, Kiowa, Pratt, Rice, or Stafford Counties can apply. The grant prioritizes projects impacting at least 50% of children (18 years or younger) and encourages collaboration among organizations. While aiming for county-wide impact is preferred, it's not mandatory. Projects must extend beyond a one-year duration and not be limited to one-time events. Budgets must meet or exceed $15,000, with a clear plan for covering any excess costs. Administrative fees or salaries must not surpass $1,500. This grant is one per county.

The RHIG Program, established by the Kansas Legislature through House Bill 2208 on May 6, 2021, is designed to strengthen and enhance healthcare services in eligible Kansas counties by providing transitional assistance to hospitals. Funded with $10,000,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021, the program aims to help hospitals transition their current healthcare delivery models to ones more suitable for their communities. Eligible projects include transitioning to new provider types, service and delivery modifications, market studies, technological advancements such as telemedicine, and personnel acquisition. The program underscores a public-private partnership model requiring a $2 match from private stakeholders for every $1 of state funds. All RHIG funds must be obligated by December 31, 2024, with the program set to expire on June 30, 2025. All counties in Kansas can apply except Douglas, Johnson, Sedgwick, Shawnee, or Wyandotte counties.

The Kerr Foundation, Inc. focuses on supporting 501(c)(3) organizations that offer new or enhanced opportunities, especially for the youth, within its granting areas. The Foundation prioritizes projects in education, health, cultural development, and community service. While there's a preference for Oklahoma-based organizations, grants are also awarded to entities in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Texas, and the Washington D.C. area. Challenge Grants are typically awarded, requiring the recipient to match the grant amount within twelve months. The Foundation does not award consecutive annual grants to the same organization. Offering up to $5,000 for each approved idea or project, the fund aims to address complex issues by exploring new strategies that improve health and health equity across different sectors. This funding opportunity is open year-round to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations, government entities, and churches in Kansas, with applications reviewed monthly. Projects that enhance health opportunities for Kansans, reflect innovative approaches, and benefit Kansas communities are prioritized for funding.

This funding opportunity supports health-related initiatives aimed at improving community health, access to care, and education for residents in Kansas, particularly for the uninsured, while excluding Johnson and Wyandotte counties.

INTENT: To activate vacant and underused spaces through the arts to help bring together community members around the art, history, and culture of the community. DESCRIPTION This program provides funding for communities with populations of 15,000 or less to reinvigorate spaces by creating new murals or public art that incorporate the community’s history, culture, heritage, tourism, or other community led art piece. This mural and public art grant program is intended to support projects in rural communities that are immediately ready to begin work on their mural, with community engagement, location selection, site approvals, and muralist selection being completed by May 10, 2024. ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS Communities with a population of 15,000 or less, located in a county of 50,000 or less. Units of local government Economic/Community Development and Tourism non-profits (501c3 or 501c6) Federally recognized tribes Non-profit organizations (501c3) MAXIMUM REQUEST: $7,500 MATCH REQUIREMENT: • Dollar for dollar (1:1) • The total project cost must be at least twice the amount of the grant request. • The match requirement must consist of at least 25% cash expenses provided by the applicant • In-kind non-monetary donations and volunteer hours may be counted, up to 75% of the required match MATCH EXCEPTION Organizations or projects in communities with populations of 1000 or fewer: • In-kind non-monetary donations may be counted as 100% of the required match PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE • May 2024 – December 31, 2024 • Murals painted on exterior walls using paint or an adhesive material need to be completed by mid-October 2024 to ensure weather does not inhibit the curing process. • If more time is needed to complete your project, KCAIC has an additional program that could be a better fit. ELIGIBLE COSTS/EXPENSES • Artist and consultant fees including travel expenses and accommodation expenses • Applicable project materials and supplies • Additional administrative costs (beyond annually budgeted general operating costs) related to the approved project • Allowable marketing expenses directly related to the approved project (This does not include campaigns or materials used solely to raise awareness of the organization.) • Equipment purchases needed to complete art or mural project under $5,000 • Wall or surface repair – limited to 15% of total project cost (tuckpointing, mortar repair) • Surface preparation (smoothing, resurfacing, cleaning, etc.) • Lighting or display materials to highlight the art piece • Landscaping or clean-up of the space that could affect the visibility of the mural INELIGIBLE COSTS/EXPENSES INCLUDE: • General operating costs of an organization not directly related to the approved project (Applicable general operating costs directly related to the approved project may account for no more than 50% of an applicant’s cash match) • Fundraising campaigns or related expenses, scholarships • Construction, purchase, or renovation of facilities • Financing of political activities, lobbying, or murals that are directly tied to a political party affiliation • Honorariums (artists and contractors must be paid as fees for services rendered) FUNDING PRIORITIES • Communities or Counties that have not previously received funding from the Kansas Department of Commerce for murals or public art • Projects that can show that they are ready to begin. Available thrice yearly with deadlines in March, July, and November, these grants cater to 501(c)(3) organizations or equivalent in specific Kansas counties. Exclusions apply, including grants to individuals and for capital campaigns. Awards typically do not exceed $10,000, focusing on projects that align with WKCF's mission and address broad community needs. Applications must be submitted online by the specified deadlines. Grant Name: Regional Touring Program Grants Donor: Mid-America Arts Alliance Location: Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas Grant Type: Grant Deadline: Ongoing Grant Size: Up to $5,000 Details: The Regional Touring Program grants by Mid-America Arts Alliance support presenting organizations in showcasing the work of artists from within the M-AAA region. Presenters can receive up to 50% of the artist's fee for booking an artist listed on a state touring roster and up to 25% for booking an artist from the region not listed on a touring roster. Rural presenters may receive an additional 10% of the artist's fee. Projects must engage regional audiences through exposure, interaction, and outreach engagement. Eligible projects must feature in-region artists from outside the presenter's home state and include public-facing events between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024. The grant does not cover indirect project costs or expenses associated with benefits or fundraiser events. Eligibility Criteria: Applicant organizations must be tax-exempt non-profit organizations or federally recognized tribal communities incorporated in one or more states in the M-AAA region. They must have a valid EIN and UEI ID and commit to M-AAA's Grantee Assurance of Compliance and Federal Suspension and Disbarment Policy.
